As part of my Bachelor of Fine Arts (Animation) final-year project at JNAFAU, Hyderabad, I independently conceptualized, designed, and produced a 3D animation short film.

  • Role

    3D Animation

  • Sector

    Final Year Project

  • Year

    2015

To tell a visually engaging story through animation, emphasizing emotion, timing, and visual storytelling rather than heavy technical effects.

My Role

I handled every aspect of the project — from story board, concept art, modeling, texturing, rigging, animation, lighting, rendering, to final compositing and sound. Working independently required balancing both the creative and technical sides of the process while maintaining production quality and storytelling coherence.

Tools Used

  • Autodesk Maya – for 3D modeling, rigging, animation, and rendering

  • Photoshop – for texture creation and concept design

  • After Effects / Premiere Pro – for compositing, editing, and post-production

Challenges & Solutions

  • Limited Resources: Without access to a production team or high-end hardware, I optimized scenes and render using Arnold plugin.

  • Time Constraint: Completed the entire project within two months, by setting a structured production schedule and focusing on story-driven visuals rather than complex simulations.

  • Solo Production: Managing multiple disciplines alone taught me self-reliance, time management, and end-to-end creative execution.

The project was successfully completed and well-received during the final-year showcase. It demonstrated strong storytelling, 3D craftsmanship, and the ability to execute a complete production pipeline independently.
